The Wind in the Pines

A Celtic Miscellany

Complied and introduced by George Maine

Published by T N Foulis Ltd. Published in 1922. 40 pages. 26cm x 22cm. Paper covered boards with cloth spine

Black and white illustrations by Andrew Kay Womrath (1869-1939), James Cadenhead (1858 -1927), Robert Burns (1869-1941) and John Duncan (1866-1945)
Headpieces by John Duncan, Helen Hay, Marion Mason, Effie Ramsay, Helen Baxter and Annie Mackay

This anthology of Celtic verse was produced as a fundraiser for the Outlook Tower in Edinburgh, a cause championed by Professor Patrick Geddes. Patrick Geddes was a man of many talents,of which one was the promotion of Celtic art and poetry and to this end he published 'The Evergreen' Magazine which was a celebration of Celtic arts

The book is complete and in good condition. Lovely distinctive decorated boards which are not signed (but at a guess are by John Duncan). Boards are in good condition but cloth spine is a little frayed in places along spine.Board corners and spine ends are bumped. Hinges are in good condition and binding is sound. Rough cut pages are clean and secure. A scarce collection of poetry
