William Brown MacDougall was born in Glasgow and trained at the Glasgow Academy and the Academie Julian in Paris. He often collaborated on projects with his friend, Aubrey Beardsley and also provided illustrations for books written by his wife, Margaret Armour, a successful and noted translator, poet and author. They both settled in Loughton, Essex and MacDougall died there in 1936.
Published by Duckworth & Co, London. Reissue 1909. 66 pages. 18cm x 23cm. Paper bound boards with decorated upper board.
Beautifully illustrated in black and white throughout. The book is complete and in good condition. Noted that boards are soiled and have a few knocks on edges but otherwise they are in good condition. Title on spine is bright, cloth has darkened. Decoration on upper board is bright. Binding is sound. Owner plate for Mabel and Wallace Sandy. Endpapers are age toned. Rough cut pages. The illustrated pages are stunning and all are in good condition and consist of 13 double pages.
